POSITION SUMMARY:
The material scheduler ensures supply of all raw and packaging materials required for production based on the Detailed Production Schedule (DPS), by maintaining optimal inventory levels, and making purchasing decisions to support achieving optimal cost. This role should work strategically with production, procurement, corporate functional heads and Nestle suppliers upstream to support reducing costs, and realizing optimal inventory levels.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create an optimized replenishment plan for raw and packaging materials over an 18 months horizon that ensures supply of materials to production whilst maintaining optimal inventory levels for raw and packaging materials. Schedulers should monitor working capital for raw and packaging materials ensuring it aligns with the outlined stock policy.
- Monitor supply signals through the use of MRP purchase requisitions ensuring delivery dates, lead times and required quantities are correct to create purchase orders. Follow-up with suppliers to ensure material fulfillment. Tracking should be completed, and action taken when material unavailability causes a line shutdown, and effects MSA, and/or DSA.
- Utilize GLOBE tools in MRP, and practice Inbound Materials Management (IMM) in order to define the stock policy and management approach to be applied to each SKU within the portfolio.
- Review and maintain the stock policy in master data on a regular basis, validating with suppliers, and procurement that proper lead times, min/max inventory levels, safety stocks, and lot sizes are defined.
- Manage directly with the defined supplier the delivery of materials: this includes creating, sending and confirming, receiving, investigating errors and discrepancies on blocked or parked invoice lines and handling all exceptions/ issues in those operations, including claims management.
- Identify possible material supply concerns and roadblocks for the factory within the next 18 months utilizing the long-term replenishment plan.
- Identify possible opportunities for the factory within the next 18 months utilizing the long-term replenishment plan.
- Manage new materials, utilizing GLOBE functionality to properly set-up the new item for introduction to the factory, and availability for first production. Work with QA, technical groups, and production scheduling when testing of new materials is required in the plant.
- Manage material discontinuations, utilize GLOBE functionality to monitor final requirements, and deplete inventory on hand.
- Communicate with warehousing to ensure that all required vendor scheduled appointments are honored, especially shipments immediately required for production.
- Insure that raw and packaging materials are used before SLED. Run obsolete material/items nearing expiry report monthly. Take appropriate action to avoid scrapping of material before SLED. Insure that all rejected material is in blocked status.
- Work strategically with the End-to-end Value Stream, collaborating with Nestle peers, and suppliers on LEAN exercises in continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
- BS/BA degree (preferably in an Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Management).
- Past experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
- Firm understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles and processes, and a passion for continuous improvement preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in production scheduling, material handling, and/or supply chain management.
- Prior experience negotiating with vendors.
- Factory master data management
- Understanding and following the product life cycle process
